Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions buyers and sellers ask most often.
Getting started
Protected transactions
What is a protected transaction?
A protected transaction sits between payment and settlement, giving both sides a visible process for payment confirmation, fulfillment, delivery, inspection and resolution.
Who creates the transaction?
The seller creates the protected transaction defining the product or service, amount, buyer, delivery details, inspection period and any additional transaction terms.
How is the transaction shared?
The protected transaction can be shared wherever the conversation is already happening, including WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, DM and email.
What can the buyer see before paying?
Before funding, the buyer should be able to see relevant information such as the seller, product or service, transaction amount, applicable fee, delivery terms, inspection period and applicable protection conditions.
Payment
Payment and verification
Is a payment screenshot proof of payment?
No. A buyer-provided screenshot is not treated as authoritative proof that a protected transaction has been funded. The seller should rely on the applicable transaction state.
How is payment confirmed?
The buyer initiates payment, the payment infrastructure processes the event, qualifying payment confirmation is validated, funds are secured, and only then can the seller proceed with fulfillment.
Does the browser decide whether payment succeeded?
No. A user browser or mobile device should not be the final authority for determining whether a protected transaction has been successfully funded.
Inspection and disputes
After delivery
When does the inspection period start?
Once qualifying delivery is recorded, the applicable inspection window begins. The transaction should display the applicable deadline.
What can the buyer do during inspection?
The buyer can approve the transaction, report an eligible material problem before the applicable deadline, or take no action.
What happens when a dispute is opened?
Normal settlement is paused where applicable, evidence is collected from both sides, transaction records and evidence are reviewed, and a resolution follows.
Can a seller win a dispute?
Yes. A dispute is not automatically a refund. Resolution may result in seller settlement, buyer refund, or another resolution permitted by the applicable terms and governing rules.
Fees
Pricing and settlement
What is the platform fee?
The platform fee is 1.7% of the applicable protected transaction value, deducted before seller settlement unless otherwise clearly displayed.
Are there subscription or setup fees?
No. There is no monthly subscription, no setup fee and no fee just to create a transaction.
Do third-party charges apply?
Applicable third-party payment-processing, banking, card, transfer, tax, logistics or other charges may apply separately where applicable and disclosed.
What affects settlement timing?
Settlement timing may depend on the applicable payment provider, financial institution, compliance review and other disclosed conditions.
